Happy Spring Equinox everyone!

This is the time we have all been patiently awaiting…when the birds begin to chirp, the buds begin to sprout with life energy, and the sun brings longer days casting the growth of light and warmth. We have all been bundled up and hibernating during the dormancy of the cold, snowy winter. Spring brings the much-anticipated change we are all excited for. As we bring awareness to our connection to the cycles of nature and the changes in seasons we can also bring our awareness to the changes in our bodies and their needs as this shift begins.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Spring is the time for growth and renewal, and it is associated with the liver, expansion, and the wood element. As we support our liver in the spring, we may begin to exercise more to move qi and blood in the body. Foods associated with the liver and springtime include green foods such as broccoli, beans, peas, kale, lettuce, arugula, chives, and others such as baby carrots, beets, and radishes. These are all fast-growing medicinal foods that have an ascending, expansive energy. This is perfect for spring to begin to move the heaviness or extra weight of winter that keeps us healthy and warm. As we begin to eat lighter and fresher foods, it is also important to hydrate our body to continue to flush toxins and stagnation and to keep everything in a harmonious flow. Energetically, it is time to for rebirth and new beginnings, so it is important to start thinking about what you may want to shed away on a soul level to energize yourself and become more expansive on a mind, body, and spirit level!

We are all so happy to be here to continue to inspire you on your beautiful health journey! Happy Spring Equinox. Go breathe in the fresh mountain air and let go of anything that is keeping you from feeling alive and nurturing your best self. Onward!
