7 Tips for Practicing Self-Care in Colorado's Springtime that Will Have You Feeling Like a Mountain Goddess

Springtime in Colorado is a magical time of year.  The snow melts away, the flowers bloom, and the sun shines bright.

It's the perfect time to get outside and enjoy all that ColoRADo has to offer. But while springtime can be fun, it can also be stressful! Between allergies, spring cleaning, busy schedules and the pressure to get in shape for summer, it's easy to forget to take care of yourself. That's why we've put together a list of our top tips for practicing self-care this spring.

Get outside: Colorado is known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor activities. Take advantage of the warmer weather and go for a hike, bike ride, or picnic in one of the many parks or mountains.

Got allergies?: If you suffer from seasonal allergies, make sure you have the necessary medications and remedies on hand. Consider using a neti pot as soon as you get home for the night to wash out all those pesky pollens, taking allergy shots, or using essential oils to help alleviate symptoms.  Might we also suggest acupuncture!  It can be so effect at symptom management while helping your body minimize inflammation.

Spring cleaning: While cleaning may not be the most fun activity, it can be very therapeutic. Clean out your closet, organize your space, and get rid of anything that no longer serves you.  Does it need to bring you joy?  Maybe not.  But make sure it at least has some kind of purpose.  This can help clear your mind and reduce stress as our environment is often a reflection of our headspace and vice versa.

Treat yo’self to a spa day: There's nothing wrong with a little pampering. Treat yourself to a massage, facial (our fav), or other spa treatment. This can help you relax and feel rejuvenated.  Self care is not selfish sometimes it’s just what we need!

Get moving (you knew this one was coming): Spring is a great time to start a new exercise routine. Sign up for a yoga class, try a new workout, or simply go for a daily walk. Exercise can help boost your mood and reduce stress.  Recent research strongly suggests that at least 10 minutes of sunlight on your face within 20 min of waking can be hugely important in boosting mood and getting you ready to kick the day right in the ass.

Eat healthy: Salads, smoothies, bbq’s, oh my!  With all the fresh produce available in the spring, it's easy to eat healthy. Load up on fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. This can help you feel better physically and mentally.

Meditate: Take a few minutes each day to sit quietly and meditate. This can help reduce stress, improve focus, and promote a sense of calm.  We like apps like Calm and Headspace to help us with guided meditation.  Hate the idea of it?  That’s ok, other activities have been shown to have a similar effect such as coloring in a coloring book.  What ever it is just take atleast 10 minutes a day to turn off distractions, disconnect,  and just “be.”

Remember, self-care is important year-round, but it's especially important during the springtime in Colorado.  It’s been a LONG winter…let's great ready for a super rad summer.

By taking care of yourself, you'll be able to fully enjoy all that this beautiful season has to offer.
