Many of my patients have been expressing some anxiety about the swine flu and there is obviously a lot of fear about this in the media right now.
I wanted to give you a couple of ideas for maintaining optimal immune health that can go a long ways toward prevention of this and other future potential pandemics.
#1 is to greatly increase your vitamin C intake. This is a good thing to do if you’re struggling with recurring colds and flus, stress, and low energy.
#2 Chinese herbs– There is an excellent immune-boosting formula called Jade Windscreen that has long been used as a form of prevention of cold and flu. You can likely buy this formula at the health food store. If you can’t find it, let me know and you can pick it up at my office.
#3 Minimize refined sugars and carbs– Pretty self-explanatory why you’d want to do this, but sugars directly undermine immune function.
#4 We are currently in the process of ordering vials for swine flu. If you are an allergy patient then you know there are certain treatments we do to boost the immune system. By using a specific swine flu vial we are giving your body a booster so it can either fight off the flu if you accidentally get exposed or will greatly reduce the severity of the symptoms. The treatment is to be used for preventative uses only. As this flu is expected to be extremely contagious it is best to limit your contact with others if you’ve been exposed.
Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions!
