Inspired by Minerals

Blog by: Gina Dane

I have been so inspired about the minerals that we have available in nature. Sorry, let me explain what I mean by that statement before you stop reading my post.

On Thursday, Greg (hubby) and I took a few days of vacation to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary (9-11-82). We decided to go to Pagosa Springs, Co which was a thrill for a Tennessee girl that has just moved to Co in May. After arriving in Pagosa Springs, I learned that they had some wonderful hot mineral springs. Of course, we were in for the experience. It was awesome and I recommend it to everyone.

The springs aren’t just for some warm relaxing water, they are for healing our bodies. The tradition is perhaps 10,000 years old. The Utes, Navajos, Pueblo tribes, and others came to the springs for the relaxing, spiritual and therapeutic purposes.

There are many minerals in the Pagosa Hot Springs like: Sodium (helps your cells), Potassium (needed for proper muscle functions, iron balance and cell nutrition), Magnesium (needed to utilize carbohydrates properly, to make our protein from amino acids, to maintain muscles and hormones), Silica (gives strength to bones, nerves, mucous membrane, hair and nails), Chloride, Fluoride (helps elasticity of the skin, the surface of bones and teeth that gives hardness and stability, Arsenic, Boron, Iron (helps deliver oxygen throughout the body), Lithium, Manganese (is necessary for bone development, reproduction, nerves and the breakdown of protein cycles in the body), Sulfate (helps detox the body), Zinc (helps in tissue nutrition, protein building and tissue repair).

After bathing in the springs for a few hours, we felt relaxed, but energized. The toxins had been pulled from our bodies, yet we had been nourished with some wonderful minerals.

Then we were off to Durango the following day. We climbed aboard the train and rode to Silverton, Co. With all the mines in the area, we found more minerals. This was right up my alley because I believe in the healing properties of minerals (rocks). We saw rose quartz, amethyst, lapis lazuli, clear quartz, etc. Listed below you will see some of the stones and their healing properties.

Rose Quartz is known for strengthening the physical heart and circulatory system. It releases impurities from body fluids, aids chest and lung problems, heals the kidneys and adrenals and alleviates vertigo. It is said to increase fertility, very helpful in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and senile dementia. It is the stone of unconditional love and infinite peace, important stone for the heart chakra it will restore trust and harmony, excellent stone for mid-life crisis, calming the mind, assisting in releasing worry, fear, anxiety and past emotional trauma, can stimulate the crown chakra, third eye and throat chakra, bringing them into harmony and unity with the heart.

Amethyst is known for boosting production of hormones and tuning the endocrine system and metabolism. It relieves physical, emotional and psychological pain or stress. Headaches and tension are eased as well. It heals diseases of the lungs and respiratory tract, skin conditions, cellular disorders and digestive tract. It is beneficial for regulating flora, removing parasites and treats insomnia. It stimulates the throat and crown chakras and helpful for people to make the transition through death.

Lapis Lazuli is known for opening the third eye and balances the throat chakra, it quickly releases stress, and bringing deep peace. It teaches the power of the spoken word, it alleviates pain, migraine headaches, it overcomes depression, benefits the respiratory and nervous systems and the throat, larynx, and thyroid, cleanses organs, bone marrow, thymus, and the immune system, purifies blood, and boosts the immune system. It alleviates insomnia and vertigo, and lowers blood pressure, it bonds relationships in love and friendship.

Clear Quartz is known for being the most powerful healing and energy amplifier. It enhances muscle testing and protects against radiation, clearing, cleansing, healing, memory enhancement, nervous system, growth of hair and nails, stimulates the immune system and brings the body into balance, harmonizes all the chakras, and soothing to burns.

It is just amazing to see, feel and learn about all the minerals that are in nature that can help us with our healing. I do have some of the healing stones available in the office for sale in jewelry form for those that are interested. Anyway, Greg and I had a wonderful trip and encourage everyone to take the opportunity to regenerate your body, mind and spirit.
